Parking Details

(89 downloads)

Download this episode (9 min)
This is a touching (not really) and satirical look at working on the parking detail of Spring Branch Community Church. As soon as I finished my first (and possibly last after they read this) job on the detail, I knew that here was an inspirational story for all. Or just another excuse to write a dopey story that would bring me happiness and tired muscles. Thanks to Jerry G. and the boys of the detail.

M&M Kids: Saving Number Seven - Episode 1

(12 downloads)

Download this episode (7 min)
This is the first episode of a story about two identical twins named Michelle and Matthew Grant. They love to Geo Cache with their friends and are gifted in many ways. When they get together amazing things happen, allowing them to solve problems that even grownups can't solve.

This is the first episode and was written for Mrs. Koehler's ODC students to listen to as they work on their art projects. If they like the story, I will write the next episode, and so on until it is done. Stay tuned....

It Happened to Harry

This is a story I wrote for a friend's son after attending a Kentucky Derby party at their house and hanging out with the two kids. We were the same emotional age and got along quite well.

This is a silly little random story about our driveway and lawn when we first moved to the North End of Virginia Beach back in 1994.

Alligator Emma

(18 downloads)

Download this episode (6 min)
This is the impossible story of Emma, an amazing girl whose imagination became just a little too real one day on the river out back of her house. Let's just say that her life has never been the same, and she's doing well on the swim team.

Sarah & The Heart Empire

(15 downloads)

Download this episode (8 min)
This is the story of how Sarah Brintnall, a member of Young Life Capernaum, tried to steal my heart. Some say that a young woman in a wheelchair could not possibly do such a thing. But some would be wrong. I barely got out alive and even now, my heart remains dangerously enlarged.

The Theory of Forrest Gump

(12 downloads)

Download this episode (6 min)
I have always loved the way Forrest Gump looked at life, with such simplicity and honesty. This is the way that many people in Capernaum see life and a way that I subscribe to.

The whole notion of luck versus a blessing is an interesting one, and one ripe with controversy and debate. Why not weigh in!

Surfing Through Life

(5 downloads)

Download this episode (7 min)
Sometimes life feels like we're surfing a huge wave. When we're in that wave we can be consumed by it or ride it like the best monster wave surfer on the planet.

The beautiful thing about this story is that I do not surf. Sure I body surf, to be sure, but as for board surfing, I am not even a wannabe, or an obiwankinobe. I am a friend to many surfers and since I live at the beach, I feel comfortable using this analogy.

When I was writing this story, I thought of my friend Ren Fortier and his annual trips to Fiji. Thus the dedication. No worries, the boy is alive and well and still surfing life and wave, knee brace and all.

Motorworld

(10 downloads)

Download this episode (6 min)
This is the story of when Capernaum (a ministry for kids with disabilities) went to Motorworld to ride Go Karts. Many amazing things happened that day, including the fact that I was not arrested for child endangerment. But we all survived in the end.... barely.

Easter Eggs and Happy the Cow

(9 downloads)

Download this episode (9 min)
This is a story written and read by my good friend Cletus Cowpie. He lives out in Back Bay, Virginia, near the reeds and cattails all lonely and nice and raises cows, chickens and a bunch of other critters with his Jessie and Billy and Annie May.

Cletus tells about an Easter Egg story he remembered and that leads into a miraculous Easter story about Happy the Cow, a cow that wanted nothing more than to be a Momma.
